Infusion Services provide in-home medical drugs, given through an IV line, by a patient, a caregiver or a registered nurse.

Infusion Services make it easier for a patient to get treatment in the comfort of their own home, potentially improving quality of life by lessening disruption to daily activities.

Generally, infusion services needs include the drug, equipment, supplies and nursing services. Nursing services are needed for medications administration and/or training patients and their caregivers on giving infusion drugs in the home.

Visiting nurses often play a large role in infusion services. Nurses can train the patient or caregiver to self-administer the drug, educate about side effects and visit to assess the infusion site and provide dressing changes.
