- What do you like about being a preceptor?
- Working with recently graduated pharmacists is such a unique and interesting experience that it offers great opportunities and fresh perspectives. Coordinating with learners is definitely one of the highlights of my role at Lumicera.
- What is your favorite memory of being a preceptor?
- Ahhhh too many to pick just one. My involvement with the residency program is with the dispensing operations, which always falls on Friday afternoons down in the pharmacy production area. So, everyone is always in a great mood, and we get a lot of medication orders ready to go out either for that day or for Monday of the next week.
- What makes our program unique?
- Specialty pharmacy is a rapidly growing section of the pharmacy profession. Lumicera’s residency is particularly unique in that the precepting team devotes a very large amount of time and effort into making sure our pharmacy residents feel supported and a valued member of the organization. We make a point to care about the resident as a person, including mental health.
- Why should someone choose Lumicera to do their residency?
- Our precepting team is very committed to making sure we have world class programs that foster collaboration and a diverse range of experiences and rotations.
- Please share a fun fact about yourself.
- I have an identical twin. If I’m not at my desk down in the pharmacy, check the lake because I’m probably out fishing with Jake.

- What do you like about being a preceptor?
- I truly enjoy sharing the knowledge I’ve gained at Lumicera with our residents. I’m passionate about giving them exposure to as many areas of our organization as they’re interested in, helping them grow into well-rounded clinical pharmacists. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch their specialty expertise deepen and their confidence flourish throughout the year.
- What is your favorite memory of being a preceptor?
- Each year, I look forward to connecting with our new residents during the Resident Wellness Retreat. It’s a fun and meaningful way to spend time with our residents and help them form great connections with their preceptors.
- What makes our program unique?
- Specialty pharmacy isn’t something most of us learned much about in school, but it’s exciting to introduce residents and pharmacy students to the many career paths it offers. At Lumicera, pharmacists work in a wide variety of roles—clinical services, operations, trade, and more—each contributing to better outcomes for patients with complex conditions. It’s rewarding to show residents that pharmacy goes far beyond the traditional settings they’re familiar with.
- Why should someone choose Lumicera to do their residency?
- At Lumicera, our residency program provides exposure to a broad range of clinical disease states and diverse practice areas. Residents complete disease state rotations that allow them to dive deeply into our core therapeutic areas, while also exploring unique aspects of specialty pharmacy—such as a dedicated rotation focused on manufacturer programs.
- Please share a fun fact about yourself!
- My husband and I enjoy making our own cold-brew coffee. We experiment with different types of beans and even have our own nitrogen dispenser.

- What do you like about being a preceptor?
- I like being able to make a difference in a student/resident’s career by doing everything I can to set them up for success, and by teaching them how to set themselves up for success as well. I love seeing what they learned in school click with what they encounter on site. It is always very heartwarming as well to receive positive feedback and learn that your rotation had a positive impact on their future career goals.
- What is your favorite memory of being a preceptor?
- My favorite memory of being a preceptor at Lumicera was attending the annual preceptor development meeting and learning more about the unique thinking styles of the residents and other preceptors
- What makes our program unique?
- Lumicera’s residency program is unique in the investment that preceptor’s have in the success of residents. Having gone through the PGY1 residency program myself, the culture shift shocked me with the amount of support that I was provided and the preceptor’s dedication to my learning. Preceptors not only help residents find solutions to complex scenarios but show residents how to find the answers themselves to prepare residents for when they are on their own and may not have immediate support.
- Why should someone choose Lumicera to do their residency?
- There are many reasons why someone should choose Lumicera, but if I could only list a few, I would sum it up by saying that residents are able to make a positive difference in the lives of patients with very complex and chronic disease states, and are able to do so in a warm, welcoming environment where preceptors not only care about the resident’s future success, but also the resident as a human.
- Please share a fun fact about yourself!
- In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my husband and 2 orange cats named Colby & Swiss as well as going rock climbing.

- What do you like about being a preceptor?
- I love being a small part of the resident’s growth and confidence in such a short period of time. You can almost pinpoint the moment things “click”, and it never gets old for me. It’s fulfilling to see our residents take their experiences forward in their career and seeing success!!
- What is your favorite memory of being a preceptor?
- I remember receiving a text from our first resident that went on to a PGY2 in Medication Safety expressing her gratitude for teaching her on the USP 800 standards, because it put her ahead of the curve for her PGY2. It just really felt amazing that our program set her up for success. We are teaching on the right things.
- What makes our program unique?
- The people and company mission. The preceptors are what make our program so amazing. They genuinely want the residents to have a good experience and learn about these specialty diseases and medication. The teams are just naturally good teachers, and amazing mentors.
- Why should someone choose Lumicera to do their residency?

- What do you like about being a preceptor?
- I love being a preceptor because it allows me to mentor future clinical leaders while staying sharp myself. It’s incredibly rewarding to see residents grow in confidence and skills throughout their residency.
- What is your favorite memory of being a preceptor?
- One of my favorite memories was watching residents present their first major outcomes project to cross-functional teams and at the national level. They worked hard to understand the data, crafted a compelling presentation, and handled tough questions with professionalism. Seeing their pride and growth in that moment was unforgettable.
- What makes our program unique?
- Our program stands out because of its unique rotations. Residents gain hands-on experience with claims data, outcomes research, data analysis, specialty pharmacy (Lumicera), and strategic initiatives that directly impact patient care and health plan performance. Plus, our collaborative culture fosters innovation and professional development.
